Flying a kite down by the river
Last Sunday was the perfect day for flying a kite, nice and cool with a steady breeze! Shannon, Myles, Brett, and I decided to go down to the river behind our apartment and put together Myles' pink fairy princess kite (yes, complete with streamers!) which we bought at Costcos a few years back. I know, not very manly but hey it works pretty well and we were able to keep it up in the air for at least an hour. Not bad eh?!
I remember back on the farm when Tim, Carrie, and I "tried" to keep that old kite attached to a fishing rod up in the air. The technology for kites must be getting a lot better because all I remember about then was how hard it was to stop the kite from doing 360s and nose diving whenever you didn't have the angles right?! The only drawback now is that you don't have the exhilarating sound effects like your landing a giant swordfish or something. Also, you don't get the luxury of setting the drag on your line or anything crazy like that! As you can see in the picture, the kids had a blast!
